What Causes Anxiety Disorders?
Although it is not exactly clear on what causes anxiety there appears to be a link to genetic inheritance & life experiences. Individuals will also be more prone to have anxiety disorders if they have a history of exposure to long-term abuse, violence or poverty. In addition, specific personally traits have also been linked to these illnesses. Individuals that tend to have low self-esteem or poor coping skills are particularly vulnerable. Furthermore, brain chemistry also appears to play a role by altering levels of biochemicals in the brain. Medications have had some success in treating certain types of disorders.
Seeking treatment & therapy for anxiety disorders are important. Untreated, anxiety disorders may potentially impair one's life & ability to function on a daily basis. Worse yet, it may seriously be harmful to a persons life & can worsen if left untreated. Unfortunately, many individuals with anxiety disorders do not seek help due to fear of what significant others (family, friends, co-workers) in their life may think. Therapy has shown to be helpful for improving the lifes of people who suffer from anxiety disorders.
